June 20th Weekly Update

Wow! June has absolutely flown by, not sure if it’s the weather or just staying busy with 3 litters, but I can’t believe we’re already close to July.

This week we had some wonderful happenings. First, Willow & Nash’s puppies Jet Ski & Pontoon received their first vaccine. You may be thinking, aren’t they a big young for vaccines already? And the answer would normally be yes, however, Parvo has become very prevalent in our town and in order to protect them as much as possible they make a Parvo-Specific vaccine that can be given as early as 3 weeks old. We opted to give at 4 weeks, 6 weeks, and then a normal 5-way vaccine at 7 weeks. As a breeder of precious lives, you need to always have an open mind to new protocols and healthcare. Things can be developed as time goes on and we always want to do our very best by our puppies and our clients.

Luckily both Jet Ski & Pontoon handled their vaccines like champs! No side effects and they were back to normal within minutes. These two are such a riot because they only have each other right now, but I love to watch them play and romp around. Whoever get’s one of these babies will be so pleased! Next order of business! Gracie’s puppies got a complete sanitize of their whelping box/kennel and a freshen up of their space in general. While we clean twice daily, it’s always nice to do a deep clean at least once a week in case there’s any spots you missed. They absolutely loved the refresh and were right back to playing as soon as they went back in.

Gracie’s litter also got started on a hybrid of Milk/Mush this week, so half of their feedings on Gracie, and half from mush cooked by yours truly! For my recipe I do their soaked puppy kibble along with goats milk. This yields wonderful calories and nutrients for growing bodies. They took to it like a fish to water and will be on full mush next week. Keep an eye out for their updated profile pictures this weekend! See Gracie’s litter Here

And finally Stella’s litter! They had a very similar week to Gracie’s litter, full deep clean + reset of their whelping box/kennel. We also dewormed both litters! We deworm at 2,4,6, and 8 weeks old as recommended by our vet. They are getting oh so cute, I can’t wait to get their photos done this weekend as well and show off how much they’ve grown in such a short amount of time. See Stella’s litter Here

As for us, the temperatures this week have been pushing 110 degrees and we are cooking. We prefer to stay home during the hottest times of the day and venture out in the early morning or late evening. Lots of enrichment duties for our dogs, trips to the air conditioned movie theaters, and spending time with our kids over summer break. The weather is supposed to “drop” to 98 on Sunday and we are hoping to get a few of our dogs to the lake early in the morning for some fun in the water! We hope you have a great weekend!

xx Krista
